Window SeatSeattle edition

Colophon

How this guide works.

Window Seat is an observed guide to coffee shops worth working from. Every entry begins the same way: someone sits down with a laptop, orders, and works a real session — then writes down what actually happened. Where the light lands. Whether the wifi held. Who else was there, and whether anyone minded how long they stayed.

There are no rankings here, and there never will be. Ordering shop fourteen above shop fifteen is false precision; the honest claim is binary. If a place is listed, it has been vetted and it works. If it isn’t, it either hasn’t been visited yet or it didn’t make it.

We also leave out star ratings, user reviews, and prices. Ratings flatten what makes a room useful into a number; reviews average strangers’ expectations; and price, in specialty coffee, is mostly noise. What you get instead are field notes — wifi, power, noise, seating, hours, welcome, coffee, food, standing areas — written from the table, not the counter.

The Boise edition currently holds 2 shops and grows as visits accumulate. New cities open when they can be covered properly.
